Knockgraffon castle was built in the 16th century. It has four stories. It still has some defensive features on its parapet. It was one of a series of Butler castles built on the river Suir. Unusually, it has a date on its fireplace of 1603. This fireplace is located on the middle floor which was originally the Great Hall. It is one of main towerhouses in south Tippperary.
